Overview

Canine enteric coronavirus, often abbreviated CCV or CCoV, is an infectious virus associated primarily with gastrointestinal disease in dogs. How CCV Spreads

Why Differential Testing Matters

CPV and CCV can both be considered in dogs with acute gastrointestinal signs. A combined CPV-CCV rapid test can help screen for both targets during the same clinical evaluation, but results must still be interpreted in context.

Treatment and Supportive Care

Management is generally supportive and depends on severity. Maintaining hydration and addressing vomiting, diarrhea and nutritional needs are important. Dogs with significant dehydration, persistent vomiting, bloody diarrhea or marked lethargy require veterinary evaluation.

Prevention

Good hygiene, prompt removal of fecal contamination, isolation of symptomatic animals and appropriate management of high-density dog environments help reduce transmission.
